S A N J O S E
Clarissa & Clint - Thanks for your help ! Honestly y'all did beyond what I would ask friends to do and I totally appreciate both of y'all !

James & Amelia - I've known these two since college and they were nice enough to let me crash in their spare bedroom and basically feed a cranky Ejen when he gets home from a day of photography.
Light-Tec, Bolt Productions and MPS - These are the three production rental house in Dallas where I rented gear from.

PIX - This is the rental house I use the most in Los Angeles. I rented equipment from PIX for all except for one con. Sometimes it is cheaper to get the equipment from PIX and pay the check-in luggage fee than to drive out of the way to rent the gear - for example Otakon in Baltimore. I would have to drive to Washington DC to rent the equipment I needed.

Chesapeake Camera is who I used to rent c-stands, sandbag and camera cart from.
Penn Camera (Laurel, MD) is where I bought the grey background paper from.

Morel Studio Support is the production service whom I used to rent grip and get the seamless paper from. Jay's a cool cat - if you need production done in Atlanta, go to this guy !

Kyle Johnson is the designer I'm using to guide me through the book design and pre-press stuff.
Also for photographers, I get ask many questions about the equipment I use so here's a list of what usually bring with me to each con. Usually I bring my camera equipment and rent/buy the larger items from local facilities.
Canon 5D /Canon 5D II
Canon 50D (back-up body)
Canon 28-70 L series
Profoto 7B / B2 pack
Profoto 7B 1200 w/s lamphead
Profoto Softlight Reflector (beauty dish) w/ 25 degree grid
Pocket Wizard Plus II Transceiver
Thunder Grey 53" seamless paper (Savage or Superior brand)
2 c-stand
1 15 pound sandbag
If you're interested in photography, many of the equipment I used can be rented from your local camera store (if they do rentals). Open up the Yellow Pages or Google your town and camera store. You'll just need an ID, insurance or credit card to cover the cost of the rental and you should be good to go !
Although I use Profoto gear, other makers do similar equipment. Example : Dynalites make their own beauty dish and may be more easier to find than Profoto which is more West Coast/East Coast.
