Contra Magazine #5 La La Land

My series "Life Below The Line" is in this month's CONTRA magazine, a Toronto-based art, fashion and lifestyle publication. One of their contributor's found me on New York-based Dripbook and suggested I submit the series to their editors.

The issue just launched June 22 and will be up for a month. Mine is the last spread so just look under "Table of Contents"

Update over at the Todd/Browning Gallery

Spoke to Bill just now. My work is already up and he's got two other photographer's work to hang. I'll be in the back of the gallery in the hallway part. Andrew, the other photographer just flew in from Hawaii with his wife for the show happen to be there so i had a chance to chat with him. I haven't met Rick, the third photographer yet and not sure if I will see him or not. He's based up in Seattle.

...and I've been invited for another group photo show in July

Yup, I've been invited to have my work shown at another photo show in July's Downtown Art Walk. I do have to say that there's many galleries in my office building downtown so there's many folks always around. Off the top of my head, I can think of six galleries in my building.

Since the space is smaller, I won't be showing the same 40x30s and 30x20s that are currently hanging up in the lobby but will instead focus on smaller pieces that are more intimate. Besides, who wants to see the same images up from the last Art Walk ?

The series will still be the same, "Life Below The Line" but more than likely, I'll have one of the 30x20 pieces and have the rest in perhaps 13x19 or a smaller size. More details in the future.

Meanwhile at the other gallery....

The gallery owner is doing some renovations so today he was having the light fixtures updated. So the walls are bare and the ceilings are torn up. Tomorrow the photographs for the "East to West" show goes up.

This is a group show of Andrew Binkley, Ejen Chuang & Rick Wong. In the meantime, here's a YouTube clip of the exhibition.

Sunday morning

It was a quiet chill Sunday morning so around 9 am when I started putting up the images. I have four 40x30s and three 30 x 20s and it took about a hour to hang it up.

I'm still not done yet - I hope to put up a stencil title/artist name on the wall later in the week and a 8x10 small description on the other wall. The opening is this Thursday but if you happen to be around the Old Bank District of Downtown, just walk into 453 S. Spring St. 90013 and they'll be up :)
