"Rant About Cosplay Photographers"

Stumbled upon this YouTube clip named "Rant About Cosplay Photographers". Oh, so true - I've seen what she describes happen at cons and I'm like - seriously do people think ? But then I realized that most photographers are just people with cameras and really may not know any better. Really it is about educating folks. Yes, this should be common sense but sometimes I don't think it is as common as it should be.

I'm thinking of doing a panel discussion on the ins & outs and etiquette of photography and cosplay....

That's hilarious and so true! I run a Cosplay Modeling / Photography panel at some of cons I go to, and I try to educate both the photographers and the cosplayers on not just how to pose / take a picture, but how to act! *laughs* It'd be great is more people did that, as there are just too many people who are clueless about how to interact with cosplayers. x_X

And personal, "Ana Aesthetic is such a bitch, she wouldn't let me take her picture" story. I wasat RealmsCon in Corpus Christi, TX. I had just gotten a call from my mom, telling me she was at the ER because her blood pressure was super high, and some dude comes up and asks for my picture. I'm visibily upset, and I tell him not right now, and he huffs off and I heard from 7 different people how he was complaining about me being such a c*nt (even AFTER one of the con staff who he complained to explained the situation to him). Thanks, dude, way to be a classy person.

This goes along the lines of what she says, these guys have a lot of goo things to say not only about posing but then at the end how to go about asking for a photo ^ ^*

I thought it was going to be a rant about the professional ones. thank god!

But yeah, I don't cosplay much myself, but I have close friends who do that I do photo shoots with a lot. They cosplayed as characters this past May that had HUGE wings which weighed about 25 lbs each. So you can imagine that after 5 hrs of walking around, they'd be able to sit and relax for a bit. Especially since we stopped so many times because people wanted photos.
But no! even while they were trying to eat and sit down, people were asking them to stand up and pose. it was ridiculous. the worst part too was that one of my female friends got her period, but she couldn't get to a convenience store because she was getting stopped too many times by people for photos, so i became her runner.
seriously, people need to learn that you cant always get the photo. respect the fact that cosplayers are people too and have schedules or unforeseen circumstances. if they say no, thats they end of it!
