Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character ?
I’m cosplaying the Warden from the adult swim show, Superjail!. I decided to cosplay this character because I’m a huge fan of the show! I think it was a unique costume idea, since it was a cartoon and not an anime.
Tell me about the process of making your outfit – was it easier or tougher than you imagine it to be ?
It was a bit tougher than I planned it to be since I had to sew an entire suit! hahaha I basically made the entire thing, except the yellow shirt. I started working on this outfit in late June along with another costume for Otakon. So trying to make two costumes was a bit stressful, but I’m really happy with the result of this outfit!
Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con ?
Well haha where to BEGIN! haha Me and my friend, who accompanied me as the Mistress received a lot of attention! More than what we anticipated! A few people thought we were actually sponsored by Adult Swim…which was a huge compliment! We were also featured in the Baltimore newspaper!
How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested ?
When I went to my first anime con, I was so amazed by all the beautiful costumes and I was inspired to start making my own!
What are the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why ?
My first con was Anime North and so far, I think that’s still my favourite con simply because it’s just so nostaligic and I find the quality in cosplays is amazing at that con. Otakuthon and Otakon are up there on my favourite cons as well.
What does cosplay mean to you ?
It’s a hobby that I’m really passionate about! I put a lot of effort in all my cosplays, even if they’re simple. I also see is it as a form of art. Well done cosplays are so beautiful, and I love looking at them!
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?
I’m not sure actually! haha I’ve completed a dream cosplay, so I haven’t really thought of another one!
