Tell me about the outfit you are wearing !
It’s Gatomon from Digimon. I was just the model, my girlfriend’s sister, Kendra, made the costume. I was a college mascot for a few baseball games, so I knew I could handle wearing a giant sweatsuit with extra insulation all day at Otakon.
Tell me about the process of making your outfit
I think Kendra mentioned something about pixie dust, a stray cat, and pile of stuffing…
Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con ?
There weren’t many people dressed in fluffy mascot outfits like this at Otakon, and I think people like seeing a giant Digimon more than Tai or one of the other human characters from the show. Also, I gave a lot of hugs to other guys.
How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested ?
I think I’ve always been interested in it, I just didn’t know what it was called. Now its usually the first thing I think of when I play a new videogame or watch a new anime, ya know “Hmm, how could I make a Shadow of the Collosis costume…”
What does cosplay mean to you ?
It’s just a lot of fun creating something you really like, and then you get to wear it too.
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?
It would definately be Mega Man, made entierly out of anodized aluminum, and a mega buster that lights up.
