It’s very strange to be showered with so much attention, so much so that people want to get it on with you. My face is completely covered and they have no idea what I look like. In the real world I’m a pretty average looking unremarkable dude, so to not be able to walk 10 feet without being mobbed was a bit overwhelming. But at the same time is very cool that so many people appreciated the hard work and character I reimagined.
I actually came up with the costume for Halloween since that is the global cosplay day, and for the convention second. I chose a comic book related costume so that I could use it again at a convention. I do remember back in 2018, when I went to my first Emerald City Comic Con and saw everyone in costume, I thought to myself; Surely I can take my skill set and apply it to this world. So around summer time of 2018 I came across the CFX imp mask that I use for the costume and figured that it would make for a good Green Goblin face. I did some research and found no one had done the green goblin the way I wanted to make it, and boom, I was on my way.
Mostly with things I found at Goodwill. There is a Youtube channel run by “Nuclear Snail.” His post-apocalyptic stuff is awesome. I figured that if I just apply his techniques to a more iconic character, then I’ve got a winning cocktail. I also don’t know how to use any of that other stuff that I see other cosplayers use, stuff like worbla, floor foam, or whatever. So I wasn’t going to wade into something I’ve never done before with an unfamiliar medium. I’ll save that for future stuff.
Cosplay takes a lot of time and effort, so I had to take
