The Princess and the Frog has been a large part of my life since the release of the movie. Since we’ve been together I’ve called my husband, my Prince Naveen, so it was only a matter of time before we wore these outfits to a convention! Since they were the simpler versions of the couple.
For our cosplay, a lot of bought parts to be honest. Most of it was in my closet or bought off of Amazon, I did however make my apron and the beignets.
Most people were just excited to see us. We had a lot of people stop (making sure we noticed and they stopped us) just to say how much they loved the cosplays and were excited to see us together. It was super heart warming too when kids pointed and said “Tiana! Naveen!”
Cosplay have been a part of my life since 2009 and has helped me grow as a person. My husband got into it just about 2017, even when we started dating I told him it was important to me so don’t expect me to stop anytime soon. He rolled with the punches and then started to get into it himself. We’ve both made lots of friends and have been able to inspire a few people, being a POC Plus-size couple. Cosplay as been such a big part that he even purposed to me at a convention and I was dressed in Tiana’s Princess gown when he did it. Cosplaying is an amazing hobby that helps boost your confidence, make friends, and even learn some skills you didn’t think you had before.
